เงินมัดจำรับล่วงหน้า หมายถึง เงินที่กิจการรับมาทั้งจำนวน หรือบางส่วน แต่กิจการยังไม่ได้สินค้า หรือให้บริการแก่ลูกค้าจนครบเสร็จสมบูรณ์ แต่ต้องทำการรับรู้จำนวนเงินที่กิจการได้รับมา จึงต้องเกิดชื่อบัญชี “เงินมัดจำรับล่วงหน้า“
ตัวอย่างการบันทึกบัญชี เงินมัดจำรับล่วงหน้า
1.หากกิจการให้บริการ มูลค่า 20,000 บาท ลูกค่าจ่ายเงิน 5,000 บาท (25% ของ 20,000 ) และยังไม่รับรู้รายได้จนกว่าจะให้บริการเสร็จ 
2.ลูกค่าจ่ายเงินอีกงวด 5,000 บาท (25% ของ 20,000 ) และยังไม่รับรู้รายได้จนกว่าจะให้บริการเสร็จ
3.เมื่อกิจการให้บริการลูกค้าเสร็จ แล้วลูกค้าจ่ายชำระส่วนที่เหลืออีก 10,000 บาท
