ค่าใช้จ่ายล่วงหน้า (Prepaid Expenses) คือ ค่าใช้จ่ายที่กิจการจ่ายเงินแล้วแต่มีบางส่วนที่เป็นของงวดบัญชีต่อไปรวมอยู่ด้วย เช่น ค่าเช่าจ่ายล่วงหน้า ค่าเบี้ยประกันจ่ายล่วงหน้า ค่าโฆษณาจ่ายล่วงหน้า
การบันทึกบัญชี ค่าใช้จ่ายล่วงหน้า ทำได้ 2 วิธี คือ
1.บันทึกไว้เป็นสินทรัพย์ เมื่อจ่ายเงินสดจะลงไว้ในบัญชีค่าใช้จ่ายล่วงหน้า เมื่อสิ้นงวดบัญชีให้โอนส่วนที่เป็นของงวดบัญชีปัจจุบันเป็นค่าใช้จ่าย
2.บันทึกไว้เป็นค่าใช้จ่าย เมื่อจ่ายเงินสดจะลงบัญชีไว้เป็นค่าใช้จ่ายทั้งจำนวน เมื่อสิ้นงวดบัญชีให้โอนส่วนที่เป็นของงวดบัญชีถัดไปเป็นค่าใช้จ่ายล่วงหน้า
